As a result of a number of confirmed Covid cases among staff at Woodside Academy, London South East Academies Trust has had to take the decision to close the school site and move all pupils to remote learning for a two-week period.
The closure period will run from 24 November 2020, with an expected return to face to face teaching on 8 December 2020.
This is not a decision we have taken lightly as we know how important it is for children to attend school. However, the safety and wellbeing of pupils, staff and their families is our priority and with a high number of staff at Woodside Academy having to self-isolate at home, the school site cannot remain open in a safe way.
Home learning for Woodside Academy pupils will be implemented as it was earlier in the year. Staff will be working with parents and carers to ensure that pupils have the support they need to continue their education at home for the next two weeks.
Since re-opening in September, all the schools within our Trust have taken every step required to be ‘Covid-secure’, in line with Government and PHE’s requirements. Bexley currently has one of the highest Covid infection rates in London – and the spike we are seeing locally is in line with the wider region.
We will be keeping our school community fully informed of any developments but please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any concern or query.
