Parents/carers information sharing morning: Tuesday 1st May, 9.00 – 10.00am

The session will provide an introduction to 'social stories', a tool that we use regularly within the school to help our students understand a variety of social situations, scenarios and rules. Social stories were created by Carol Gray in 1991 to help teach social skills to people on the autism spectrum. They are short descriptions of a particular situation, event or activity, which include specific information about what to expect in that situation and why.

This training will include:

  • An overview of social stories
  • How to use and write them
  • An overview of comic strip conversations
  • Sharing examples of some social stories we have used at school
  • Practice writing a social story
