Welcome to Woodside

Welcome to Woodside Academy. We are an above average sized all age special academy (5-19) located in the London Borough of Bexley. We cater for children and young people with a wide range of learning difficulties, including Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and moderate learning and medical needs.  All our pupils have a Statement of Special Educational Needs (SEN) or an Educational Health Care Plan (EHC).

Woodside Academy works in close partnership with Belmont Academy . The partnership is relatively unique as there are few partnerships of this kind that link special and mainstream academy’s . The partnership enables us to make meaningful links between mainstream and special educational environments that enrich the provision on offer to our children.

Our pupils and students are supported by a large therapy team, including play therapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy and physiotherapy. This team works in a co-ordinated way and in partnership with the Academy to ensure all children and young people's needs are fully supported. These services are integral to the planning for provision and the delivery of a comprehensive service to all children and their families. The Academy  also employs a Family Support Worker who works with our vulnerable families who need support through difficult and challenging times. The School Nursing Service plans and oversees all medicine regimes, providing on going health education services and support for families with advice on a number of medical issues.

Woodside Academy  is at an exciting point in its development. The academy  is led by an Executive Head Teacher who is assisted by a Head of School. All pupils and students with Autism are located in purpose built accommodation. We also house provision for 14-19 year olds who follow a range of vocational pathways. We hope you find all the information you need on our website.
