Our over-subscribed special academy offers provision for autistic 4-19-year-olds with moderate learning needs. All of our learners have an Education Health and Care Plan, (EHCP), and a diagnosis of autism. We are all ambitious for each individual all of the time and value trust, honest, respect and kindness. Our calm, welcoming and purposeful environment ensures that children and young people are happy and confident and can therefore make the most of every opportunity the school provides for them to learn and succeed. The story of our school is best told by the children, some of whom join the school at very early developmental levels. Along their educational journey and due to the good work of the school, children and young people steadily build skills, knowledge, a love of reading, independence, confidence, resilience and qualifications. Our curriculum enables the children and young people to develop academic and lifelong learning skills which empower and engage them to drive forwards into employment or future study or training. It is designed to be ambitious, personalised and to promote a love of learning and reading.
Older pupils leave the school, the majority moving on to college, equipped with a range of qualifications in English, Maths, Science, and a BTEC in a vocational subject such as construction, art and design, independent living skills.
We work in close partnership with a range of other schools locally and beyond. This enables us to make meaningful links with other educational environments, enriching the provision on offer to our children and gives us the opportunity to share best practice and strengthen educational links across the region.
